Billie's Restaurant

Billie Milburn opened Billie’s Restaurant at 309 S Mildred in 1968. The place had previously been a movie theater, but seeing potential in the location, Billie opened doors to a community to which she couldn’t give free coffee away.

As a grand opening special, Billie placed an ad in the local paper promising free coffee. Not getting the increase in business she expected, she ended the special. Weeks later, she decided to try a different approach. This time she would advertise a cup of coffee for a nickel. Soon customers were flooding the place to get their 5-cent coffee. It became a fun anecdote she enjoyed telling for many years later.

Though Billie passed away in 2006, her daughter keeps the same traditions that returning customers have come to expect, like pleasant service and good food.
